2023

As we approach the end of competition season and reflect on the highs and lows of this year (2023), I can't help but feel a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead. Life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs, and this year has been no exception. While our primary focus has been on training, we've also made it a point to take some time to relax and give our beloved horse a well-deserved break. Little did I know that this break would extend for an entire year!

With 2024 on the horizon, I am filled with hope and determination, ready to make it a year of incredible progress. I am truly grateful for the unwavering support of my amazing partner, who has been my rock throughout this journey. Their presence and encouragement have played a significant role in my success. Together, we have been nurturing our home-bred horse, Windsor, who is now a lively 16 months old. The excitement of watching Windsor grow and develop is indescribable. Standing tall at an impressive 15.2 hands high, Windsor possesses a gentle and affectionate nature that makes every training session a joy. It astonishes me how quickly he grasps new skills and adapts to different challenges.

However, amidst the triumphs, we have also experienced moments of sorrow. This year, we faced the heartbreaking loss of a foal who would have been Windsor's full sibling. Although we are uncertain about the exact timing of the loss, we suspect it occurred within the first five months of the mare's pregnancy, as no signs or indicators were present. While it is heart-wrenching to bear this loss, we take solace in knowing that the mare herself remains in good health. The absence of the foal leaves a void in our hearts, but we find strength in moving forward.

As I look back on the rollercoaster ride that 2023 has been, I am filled with a deep sense of optimism and excitement for the future. I am eager to embark on the journey that awaits us in 2024, with all its triumphs, challenges, and unexpected twists. In fact, I have decided to challenge myself even further by starting a law degree in October this year. It's going to be a packed year, but I am ready to take it on.

Now, I would love to hear about your own experiences with horses. Have you ever encountered unforeseen obstacles or experienced moments of great joy in your equestrian pursuits?
